Lake Winnisquam Towns - Lake Profile

Lake Winnisquam - Lake Town Profiles

Lake Winnisquam is NH's 4th largest lake with just over 4,212 acres with 2 islands both with homes. The lake is oligotrophic ( best water quality ) with a maximum depth of 155 feet.  Winnisquam is located in Belknap County referred to as the lakes region. The region has wonderful restaurants, shopping, museums, music venues, theater, hiking, snowmobiling, ski resorts, art exhibits, crafts fairs and awesome attractions for all. Gunstock Ski Resort is a short drive from anywhere on the lake and rainy day shopping at the outlet stores off Exit 20 as you head towards the lake.   Major airports are in Manchester and Boston. Hospitals are in Concord, Laconia and Plymouth.

Towns around the lake include the following.

Meredith: Lake Winnisquam Real Estate town Profile Lake Winnisquam Home

The northern section of Winnisquam is where Meredith touches the lake. This quaint town of just over 6000 enjoys exquisite restaurants and lodging right on the lake. Take a stroll thru town and along the waterfront enjoying the ever-changing sculpture walk. The town docks on Winnipesaukee are in the center of town and a short walk from the docks to downtown shops. ( fishing derby, boat shows, a scenic railroad, pond hockey, snowmobiling, golf and major ski resorts are close by during the seasons )

Laconia: Lake Winnisquam Waterfront town Profile

Laconia takes up most of the eastern shoreline of the lake. Lake Winnisquam Real Estate in Laconia offers sandy beaches, mountain views with sunsets. Laconia is the largest town in the lakes region. It is home to Weirs Beach and summer home of the Mt Washington Cruise Ship.  Laconia is also home to Bike Week. Thousands of motorcycles pack into the lakes region for this week-long event ending Fathers Day weekend. A new popular event in the fall is the pumpkin festival where 1000’s of pumpkins light up the sky.  In Laconia you will have access to plenty of restaurants, shopping, marinas, golf courses and a regional hospital. Take the kids to Fun Spot one of the largest arcades in the world.

Sanbornton: Lake Winnisquam lakefront town profile

Sanbornton’s shoreline is the westerly side of the lake running from Laconia Rd ( Rt 3 ) to the Meredith line to the north. The Winnisquam shoreline offers great sunrises and mountain views. Not much happening in this town of 2500 residents, they don’t even have a street light. My favorite breakfast location is Heritage Farm off Hunkins Rd, just a short ride from the lake.    All the action on the lake happens every summer in this sleepy town at the sandbar just north of the Rt 3 bridge.

Belmont and Tilton: Lake Winnisquam Waterfront Town Profile

Tilton and Belmont are located south of Rt 3 and the Rt 3 Bridge AKA Mosquito Bridge. You will find Marinas and a local store at the bridge where you can pick up drinks, food, souvenirs and fishing supplies. You will find condos, seasonal cottages, camps and year-round homes. This area is a great commuter location as you are less than 10 minutes off exit 20.
