Merrymeeting Lake located in New Durham NH, 1233 acres and was formed in 1923 when the Merrymeeting River had a dam put in.  The lake is shaped like a bow tie and surrounded by mountains. 

The main road in is Merrymeeting Lake Road that takes you by the NH Fish and Game Hatchery at the head of the lake where the dam and boat launch are located.  There was some land planning when lots were surveyed for the lake. Most of the lots sitting across the street from the lake have a 20-foot strip of land they own so they have access to this wonderful crystal clear lake.                                                                

The shoreline is dotted with small cottages to luxury lakefront homes. From the dam you can follow South Shore out to the end, Merrymeeting Lake Road leads you out to North Shore Road and Pine Point.  Cedergren is on the eastern shoreline and is accessed from the Wolfeboro side of the lake.  You can not drive around the lake.  

Boating, water sports, sailing, and fishing are the main activities on Merrymeeting Lake. The deep, cold water allows for a variety of game species to thrive. Brook trout, brown trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, whitefish and landlocked salmon are the more popular fish in the lake with anglers. Warm water fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, pickerel, horned pout, white perch, yellow perch, crappie, and bluegill. 

From your lake home you can easily access major grocery stores in Alton or Wolfeboro. Restaurants, shopping, and supplies are all within 15 minutes of the lake. Gunstock is the closest ski resort complete with zip lines, mountain coaster, tubing, cross country skiing and numerous winter ski programs. 

Back to the lake, most of the homes around the lake are vacation homes, once you see the lake you will fall in love with the area. The residents of the area claim the lake is the cleanest in the state with many cottages still taking water from the lake.  Less than 2 hours to Boston.
