Hills Pond is 93 acres with an average depth of 15 feet and a maximum of 40 feet. This quiet pond has no public boat launch. If you are fortunate enough to own a home on the lake or an access home with access to one of the beaches around the lake you will enjoy fantastic sunsets and mountain views. Homes range from seasonal cottages to year-round homes. 

One of the most popular hiking trails in NH. Mount Major is minutes away along with Gunstock Ski Area. Winnipesaukee is a 15-minute ride where you will also find restaurants and grocery store.

Description of the Major NH Lakes / Quick Real Estate Buyers Reference 

Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in NH. You will find peaceful coves, open water, sailboat racing and fast cigarette boats. The shoreline is dotted with hundreds of large contemporary homes.  Noble Adirondacks are neighbors to rustic seasonal cottages. Activities and attractions are concentrated in the Gilford, Laconia and Wolfeboro areas.  You can live and shop by boat all summer. 

Lake Winnisquam is just over 4000 acres and approximately 10 miles long. The southern end of the lake is dotted with modest homes and seasonal cottages. As you head past the sandbar to the north the lake widens and you will find a mix of luxury homes on the eastern shoreline and year-round homes to seasonal properties on the western shore. The northern end of the lake leads into a no-wake zone and a perfect place to relax. The same attractions found in the Winnipesaukee area are easily accessible from Winnisquam.

Squam Lake is NH's second largest lake with just over 6700 acres.  Unlike Winnipesaukee, Squam is much less developed, with vintage lake homes more popular.  The decor is simple, but quality is evident.  There are less electronics and you will feel like you have stepped back in time when you tour the area. You are not going to find any box stores or even a Dunkin’ Donut shop around the lake. Yes, you will find new lakefront retreats but as you cruise the shoreline most of the homes are set back into the woods and are not visible from the water.  It is not unusual to find large tracts of shorefront land as privacy is a premium attraction to Squam Lake owners. You almost feel like you are one of the first settlers to see the wooded shoreline when boating around the lake 

Newfound Lake is also just over 4000 acres. This lake has pristine water quality and clarity. Clear and deep!  To the south you find small-town living in Bristol, as you head north you find rural Alexandria, Bridgewater and Hebron. The lake is dotted with cottages, condos and luxury homes along with rustic turn of the century estates.  A major ski resort is just a short drive and Plymouth a college town is just north of the lake.  

Sunapee Lake is over 4000 acres.  You will find many turn of the century estates along the shoreline along with condos and luxury Adirondacks. The lake is very popular for boaters and has a Star Class sailing fleet.  A major ski resort, Mt. Sunapee, is minutes from the lake.  Towns around the lake include Newbury, Sunapee, and New London- a trendy college town. There is a  Dunkin’ Donuts but other than that most stores are local merchants. 

Ossipee Lake is over 3000 acres. This lake has some of the best views of all the NH lakes.  Views around the lake take in Mount Washington and Mt. Chocorua. The lake consists of 4 bays and the main lake, they all connect.  Homes around the lake vary from seasonal cottages, condos to contemporary homes. If you are looking for a sandy beach home, this could be your go to lake.  You will find numerous attractions including major ski resorts and golf minutes from the lake. 

Lake Wentworth is also over 3000 acres. This lake is located in trendy Wolfeboro the Oldest Summer Resort in the US. This lake is similar to Squam. Around the lake you find vintage cottages, beautiful homes and condos. The wooded shoreline gives you the feel you are one of the first visitors to the lake.  Golf, skiing and attractions are all a short drive away.

Sunset Lake ( AKA Places Lake )  is located 10 minutes from Alton Bay. The lake is 253 acres with an average depth of 18 feet and a maximum depth of 78 feet. The water in this oligotrophic lake is crystal clear with a rocky to sandy shoreline. This lake is a hidden gem, homes seldom come on the market and if they do they sell quickly. To access the lake you have a steep ascent from Alton Bay with spectacular views of Winnipesaukee on the way to the lake.  

With no public access, you will not find the lake crowded with boaters and the shoreline is dotted with cottages and a few year-round homes. The scouts have a summer camp in the Gilmanton end of the lake. 

Groceries and restaurants are just a short drive into Alton. The most popular hiking trail in NH is Mount Major is 15 minutes away and Gunstock and Wolfeboro are just a 30-minute drive. You will find all the attractions Winnispeaukee has to offer at your doorstep.
