The large lakes have a lot to offer but are very pricey with quite a bit of boat traffic. To find a home on Squam, Sunapee, Winnipesaukee, Winnisquam, Newfound, Ossipee , Wentworth or Great East Lake you need a budget of over $600,000 to find a seasonal camp on a small lot. On the smaller lakes you can find a dream home in the $325,000 to $500,000. In the $4oo to $500,000 price range you can find a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home on a level lot with a sandy beach and sunsets. Smaller lakes are quiet and you can enjoy all the same boating sports and fishing.

My best advice if you are not familiar with a the area get in the car and explore the area. When you get down to business and start viewing homes to purchase you will be familiar with what is around the homes you are visiting. Example, if you are looking for family activities, shopping and restaurants close by Pine River Pond might not right for you while Waukewan or Lake Kanasatka would be perfect. Work with your agent and let them direct you to homes that meet your wish list.
