Two NH Lakes with the same name and totally different lifestyles! Can you name them?
Pleasant Lake: Deerfield, Northwood 479 acres Pleasant Lake: New London 602 acres
Both Lakes are Oligotrophic or the best water quality in NH, both have sandy or a rocky shoreline and are of similar size. Both have trout fishing, loon families and both are rural towns but New London has salmon and this is where the differences start.
Pleasant Lake in Deerfield, Northwood is located just east of Manchester, also a short distance to Portsmouth and Concord making it an attractive lake for a family looking to raise their family on a lake. There is an abundance of local restaurants or you can head into Manchester to dine and enjoy professional hockey, baseball or an evening at the Palace Theater. The lake is active with water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skis and sailing. Just down the street from the lake, is NH largest state fair. Deerfield Fair takes place the last weekend in September. The fair has a variety of agricultural events to rides and food on the midway. You will find plenty of golf courses close by and hiking trails.
Pleasant Lake in New London is located just off 89 and minutes to a quaint downtown. The Main St. is home to Colby-Sawyer College, shops, and restaurants. The northern shore of the lake gives you spectacular views of Mt Kearsarge and if you are looking for winter activities New London is in the snow belt so you can enjoy skiing at Sunapee or Ragged along with active snowmobiling. The Lake Sunapee Country Club almost borders the lake. Just north is Hanover home to Dartmouth College. The lake has a round shape making it great for water skiing, wake boarding, sailing but no jet skis. Hiking, Cross Country Skiing, and some great snowshoeing trails are close by.
