Little Squam is 408 acres with a maximum depth of 60 feet. Ashland and Holderness are the towns surrounding the lake. Both towns have full-service marinas and docks available for sale or rent.
The shoreline is dotted with commercial interests on Route 3 side with cottages, condos and homes tucked in on the north, south and eastern shoreline. Ashland's town beach is on the south end of the lake. You cross the covered bridge to find the parking and beach.
When my grandkids come up we hike Rattlesnake Mountain off Rt 113 and then head over to Squam Lakes Science Center where you will find local animals in a natural setting. 
In 15 minutes you can be in downtown Meredith or Plymouth and in 30 minutes skiing at Loon, Waterville, Cannon or Ragged. You will find restaurants, hiking trails, golf and attractions minutes in any direction. Boat rentals are available along Rt 3 along with scenic cruise opportunities.
