Lower Beech Pond is 160 acres with an average depth of 22 feet with a maximum depth of 50 feet. Tuftonboro is a quaint New England town with not much happening but located in the heart of the lakes region. ( low tax town ) The lake is remote surrounded by wilderness.  It is a destination lake for brown and rainbow trout fishing. The lake is oligotrophic water quality ( best ) with clear water. Paugus Bay is 1227 acres. The bay is home to Marinas and Weirs Boulevard home to numerous condo developments. To the north you find the popular Southdown Shores.  As you enter Paugus Bay you go by the ever-popular Weirs Beach and boardwalk.
